UPDATE 11/11/05 A National Bulletin has been released in Scotland by the Director of Human Resources and also the recognised Unions with regards to agenda for change and assimilation.
In this bulletin they inform staff that they will be writing to all employees in January 2006 notifying them of their bandings. The reason for the delay is that they wish to write to all staff at the same time with bandings and not discriminate against staff groups by writing to some before the others. Once these letters have been sent out staff will assimilate across to their new bandings and salaries will commence as of 1st April 2006. With regards to what bandings are what, they have not mentioned this as yet. They also say that back dated monies will be paid at some point after 1st April 2006.
UPDATE 12.1.05
January: Letters informing staff of the Bandings will be posted to employees in the last week of January. No bandings have been confirmed and staff will not know their banding until they receive their letters.
April Staff will assimilate across to their new bandings and T&Cs at the start of the new financial year. Staff have to accept as the Service is an Health Board and not a Trust.
October/November: Backdated monies should be paid to staff groups once the process for their group/banding has been completed.
They have also said in this bulletin that they have been granted an extension and the A 4 C process will now be completed in October 2006

Bands 4 and 5 for tech/paras under appeal but Unison advise roadstaff to accept AFC as is while the bandings issue is appealed both locally and nationally..
Surrey Ambulance Service NHS Trust

1/8/05 - Sussex Ambulance in local dispute over pay bands. All test matches and evaluations have shown Tech's 5 and Para's 6, but management have stopped this from being offered, and blocked the panels from meeting for this group. They have always insisted that they will only pay 4 & 5.

Tees East and North Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust
Techs top of band 4 (19248+25%) + 1500 per year meal break payment. Paras not yet had an offer.
1/8/05 UPDATE Update for TENYAS , Paras have now been offered band 5 + 25% + 1500 meal break payment.
UPDATE 9/9/05 - Just heard today 1500 meal break payment has been deemed NON PENSIONABLE by the National Pensions Agency and to have offered this payment was illegal anyway !!!.Union meeting now with management re. contracts have been signed which include this payment. Another F**K UP.it seems. !!!!!!
20/08/05 Now that contracts have been signed ( under threat of no back pay ) this management are now about to withdraw the 1500 meal break payment and are going to claw back a big percentage of unsocial hours back pay. With techs now being on a reduced BASIC they are also going to claw back a percentage of that as well. This means that any Tech who has not worked any overtime since last October will receive very little, if any back pay at all.

West Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust
Technicians to Band 5 & Paramedics to Band 6.
28/7/05 - Are you not aware that on Friday West Mids in joint union action are balloting for industrial action because of the restrictions on banding for Tech's and Para's?
UPDATE 3/8/05At Coventry and Warwickshire things are getting sticky. The service was formed last year so we have some staff on "Old West Midlands Contracts" and some on "Old Warwickshire Contracts", both of which are different. A4C was supposed to see us all move onto the same contracts... New contracts were issued on 1st August as "New" Coventry and Warwickshire Contracts, but the salary rates are different for staff that used to be on different contracts, even though we are now all on the same contracts! So we're refusing to sign them until its sorted out, whilst also requesting a review of our banding.
UPDATE 12-1-06
A4C, Well there seems to be a few misconceptions about whats what and whos getting what, the West Midlands Ambulance service were originally banded Techs - 5 and Paras - 6, however the management were gagged by the SHA and as yet to date it has not been published; officially that is.
This match was done in house after all the verifications had been done. It was then further sent to an Individual hospital trust to be verified and they at the same time were having their own process verified by an outside agency ( so more verified then a verified thing on verification day) This in turn returned from this verification as a tech 5 and Para 6. (Infact this figure has been the outcome for over 30% of Ambulance services) And in full agreement with the original verification that was done in house.
All cut and squared away you would think? Unfortunately this is were the story changes Our bosses were only being polite to inform the SHA prior to going public I do not believe they were under any commitment to the SHA to inform them prior to going public, when they were like so many other services 30% infact GAGGED by the SHA and told not to publish the outcome. This Gagging procedure from the SHA contradicts the A4C guidelines and therefore in the whole spectrum of things makes the entire system a charade. The A4C was set up so that it would be a full impartial system so that people working within the NHS would be rewarded for what they did. The gagging process therefore takes away the Impartiality and therefore undermines the whole process and the time and money spent on it.
The SHA then requested 2 further verifications to the band matches?
Under this agreement of band matching the people that do it are supposed to be TOTALLY IMPARTUAL so that a fair and logical outcome can be reached. So the SHA had two other ambulance services re-verify the outcomes (hummm thats impartial NOT) the results from that were never made clear and I would only be surmising so I wont but I do know that the staff representatives doing the verification did not take part as it was out of the A4C guidelines, and the Managerial side were forced to do it. So the process was not followed whatever the outcome.
So we have had a ballot for a possible strike awaiting the outcome, but the new bandings are being looked at for the West Mids and that is a mix of 4, 5 and 6 New Techs and Drivers Untrained = 4, qualified Techs = 5, new Paras = 5, and qualified Paras = 6. . Time will tell.
West Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust
Wiltshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust
UPDATE 14/10/05 Para = 5 Tech = 4 PTS = 3
