Can I enquire as to why a private ambulance service needs a RRV?
Because, whether we like it or not, there are some PAS's out there that contract to the trusts to give A&E cover using HPC para's and IHCD tech's.

Because the PAS I work for has 999 contracts with 3 NHS trusts. They have 4 response cars and 3 ambulances working 24/7 for one trust and a similar set up with the other 2.
They also have contracts pending with several other trusts. For 20 an hour working in brand new vehicles with brand new kit I choose to do my overtime with them. |

Ah, ok fair enough! I've just seen to many walts in marked up RRV's coming into hospital on blues and two's just to drop off dear old granny for her out patients appointment.

I personally feel that this private company is bleeding the NHS dry. The trust could put double the amount of motors out on the road if they used their own staff and vehicles but the problem is........ no staff and vehicles! The Techs and Paras work for the private company because the money starts at 20 an hour which is a lot more than the trust pay which compounds the problem because nobody wants to do overtime! We can't work for them on a contract with our own trust so we work in a neighbouring trust instead.
The PAS are charging 1000 a shift per ambulance/car plus 1.20 a mile and are making millions out of each contract, just think how many more trucks/cars/paramedics we could employ for that money! But... all the time they are paying me 20 an hour I will continue to work for them. |

This is the problem all over the NHS. I'm old E grade.
Under A4C I get about 15- 18 an hour on overtime, depending on what shift. With most agencies it rises to 25 - 35 an hour. Who's going to work on a hospital ward, when your overtime can consist of kipping in a prison medical centre for 35 an hour? |

The BNA nurses in our local A&E are earning upwards of 30 an hour and some of the agency nurses get 400 for a night shift. Why join the bank or NHSP when you can earn a week's salary in a weekend with the agency?
Same with me, I can do the same job 40 miles away for double the money (Tech overtime rate is about 12 an hour) or I can earn less. Which would you choose? |

Perhaps someone should forward a copy to the University - they might not be too happy to be associated with something that's not in their normal line of work.

had a good look at the site www.sussesxmedicalservices.co.uk.and cannot see any old ambulances on
this site. The owner who is a qualified RN does not make any adverse comments about the ambulance proffession on his site. So I think that you are barking up
the wrong tree.
I rang the owner and he told me thes comments were rubbish. By the way has anyone heard of Kevin Fisher latley or has someone bumped him off ( not before time a lot of professionals ambulance staff would say.) |

It's a new site and SIMON has made that post to try and have a dig at the individual He has named in his post (against the rules much?) The link posted is
to a new website nothing like the one that was previously posted A YEAR AGO! The company obviously have new vehicles and have removed the remarks about
paramedics from the site.

and just to mention: Michael Hughes is still a prick, he deleted his guestbook, and to my knowledge is still masquerading as an EMT/Student Paramedic (depends
who's asking) with YAS (- he isnt, can't pass entrance exams despite his claimed qualifications). his mum isn't a registered nurse - in
fact she's scared of hospitals (her words) and his only St John certficates are cadet ones he got before being asked to leave whilst certain allegations
were investigated.

no, just very aware of his actions...
forgot to mention that he also makes casual threats of legal action toward anyone and everyone who takes against him - complained to st john about 2 of their members who dared to peer through the window of his Laguna |
